ARTWORK STATEMENT
The windows are opened.
Let’s look out. Oops, the view is gone.
Something is trembling…
Or is it my mind?
When concussion happens,
what can we do besides to stare?
Xanax is a minor tranquilliser commonly used for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
BACKGROUND
With an intention to experiment with the possibilities of using moving images as objects in a work, together with ready-made bricks, multiple videos are used to build the video sculpture. Out of Xanax is developed from an earlier video work as an elemental object.
THE VIDEO
The video is a journey to swim in a stack of still images, by looking through a square frame where the frame moves to direct what can be seen.
Throughout the unfolding of an experience to navigate through a series of closeups and image surfaces, viewers swim from outdoor to indoor, zoom into outdoor and back out to the indoor.
THE BRICKS
Strong and heavy bricks are constructive materials for building houses, the way they are stacked in the sculpture disrupts the fundamentals of construction.

INSTALLATION
The work has been shown in two different exhibitions – Lingering Liminality: the realm of process, experimentation and the in-between and SCM MFA Show 2018.
